This area is one of my favorite places for roadtrips, so I’ve actually been to Hearst Castle a few times, as a tired-of-driving pit-stop. It is beautiful (though not a “castle” by any standards other than American), and has good historic value. The tours are nice, and definitely worth it the first time. But if it’s a sunny day and you don’t have the entrance fee, try just walking the grounds a bit.
