I spent the majority of the trip in Colombo. Stayed at the Hilton Colombo Residence. Normally I would have prefered a smaller, more personal hotel, but it was great. Especially value-wise, it was pretty much a 3 bedroom apt., great if you want to save $$$ and book a lot of people (myself, dad, and brother). I had to divide the trip between site seeing and spending time with my extended family living there. I loved it. Felt totally safe going out alone and everyone was so nice. Also fun to celebrate the full moon there.

I also spent time at hotel near Dambulla, the Kandalama Hotel. I WILL return there. Somehow, someway. And if I ever do get married I WILL honeymoon there. Designed by Geoffrey Bawa, literally carved out of a rock. I wish I was there now. sigh

And try to imagine climbing up Sigiriya Rock New Years day. Early morning after having a bit too much fun New Years Eve. Whoa. It was definitely worth it, but there were a few times I thought I was going to fall off!
