I find that the great mosquee that’s here is one of those places you really have to open your heart and feel what surrounds you while you’re in it.
It’s not just a building, and even though it was eventually “taken over” by the catholics it does not have the standard cristian structure for a church.
In fact it is wide, and dark, but not scary.
It does not show the church institution as strong and powerful, but rather the building wants to be a place where a quite intimate relationship can be carried on between the visitor and God (or whatever other kind of way you call it).
Amazing.
Wish I’d see that again.
I did not have a digital camera back then, but this memory is marked deep in my brain.
