Serbia

I had a great time on my 2 week visit to Serbia and Montenegro. It was very laid-back. Lots of time spent in cafes everywhere up in Belgrade and down in Montenegro it was just all sunning on the beaches and hiking up old stone and tile walkways amidst old churches, forts, and statues—WOW.

Everyone I met was really friendly and many spoke enough English to help me get by. I even learned to read Cyrillic!

I’m definitely going back for more… and its pretty cost effective once you get over there; quite a tempting place to move to.

So for vacation this year, my girlfriend and I are going to Serbia, which is where her family is originally from. We’ll be starting in Belgrade and then heading to the coast, including Dubrovnic, Herzeg Novi, and a bunch of other places I’d never heard of before. We’ll even be there at a good time of year to enjoy the outdoors! Since I speak essentially zero Serbsky, it will be an enjoyably overwhelming culture-shock and I’m looking forward to it very much. Also, I’m going to be getting a Mac later this year and I hear you can get really good, ahem, deals on software over in Yugoslavia…
