Referred to as Manhattan’s oldest home, however I’m not sure about the validity of that.. Fraunces Tavern was built in 1713 and it was a home before British occupation of New York City lead to it becoming a Tavern. Fraunces Tavern is at least 30 years older than Morris-Jumel Mansion

  4. President Hamilton’s home “The Grange” Recently moved to it’s final location.

St. Nicholas Park was part of Alexander Hamilton’s land.

They moved it from it’s original location to it’s second location in the 1800s.

new description/caption feature

Not sure if you’ve noticed yet, but I recently added a feature to allow people to write a bit about each place on a list. I wonder if you’d like to be one of the first to use it, especially for this sort of in-depth historical list with places that not everyone would have heard of.

yea I was wondering how it worked. i was hoping it would show up in other lists

it would be nice to set a radio button when i fill that out, denoting the comment as global or isolated to that list.

like if everyone adds a tidbit, the list owner decides if that list shows just comments isolated (i.e. only allows the comments they add) or allow all users comments show points of interest.

only on the list

The caption on a place in the list shows up only on that list. The reasoning behind that is that if you’re writing about a place on the “Best chocolate cake” list, it might not necessarily make sense to show it on a “Best burgers” list if the place is also on that list. In the future, list captions might also show up on the individual place page.

By the way, if the list owner sets the “can community members contribute”, anyone can edit captions. Otherwise, only the list owner can.

oh ok. that’s cool.

my only beef with lists since they moved to 43P is that I can’t search for text anymore.

to find my own lists I have to go to my profile and browse lists i’ve made or contributed

to find a list I didn’t make I have to search for a place that i know is on the list and browse that way

searching

We’re concentrating on 43things right now for New Year’s resolutions time, but searching for lists is near the top of my list for 43places. Also we’re considering a favorite/bookmark/like feature to make it easier for people to go back to lists they like that other people have created.

This list has gotten 1 cheer.
