   My first trip when I was 9 months old – Ibiza. Returned many many times as a kid for holidays on the Costa Brava. First ever holiday without ‘supervision’ in Lloret de Mar with my friends’ tennis club when I just turned 18. First ever holiday with a boyfriend in Barcelona. First ever businesstrips in Barcelona. Both Barcelona and Madrid are favourites for shopping.

   As a toddler I visited Texel, and afterwards when I was in elementary school we went camping in the Netherlands every spring and fall weekend.

   Vacations as a kid on the Atlantic coast. First visit to Paris with my godmother when I was 13. Toured another large part on a roadtrip when I was 21, again when I was 23. First vacation all by myself, a week in Paris when I was 26.

   Family vacation right before I turned 17, a week touring Kent and visiting London and Cambridge. Returned when I was 27 to visit my brother who moved to Manchester.

    2 weeks touring Japan when I was 25. A life long dream fulfilled, or better, fueled. One of my favourite places ever. First time I needed a passport. First time I took a group tour with strangers.

    3 weeks touring the whole of China when I was 27 (group tour again). Shanghai was a highlight. The food was fantastic everywhere. First time travelling by sleepertrain. First time I had to get a visum. First time I opted for a bit more luxury. Didn’t get my picture taken by any of the group members and really regret it – a lesson learned.

    2 weeks touring Rajasthan with Delhi and Agra right before I turned 28. Another group tour, first time I had a bad experience with the guide and some of the locals. First time I managed to haggle.

    5 days in New York City with 2 girl friends when I was 28. First time on a girls-only vacation. First time flying business. First time flying standby.
