Re: Russia
The relatively small St. Sophia Cathedral in Novgorod is impressive because it is old and historically important, and it has nice frescoes and icons, but for grandeur and beauty there are several more in Russia that could better be included: St Isaac’s in St. Petersburg, Savior-on-the-Blood in St. Petersburg, St. Basil’s in Moscow’s Red Square, or the cathedral inside Moscow’s Kremlin itself. All are spectacular in a way that Novgorod’s St. Sophia is not.
And Falling Water is a sophomoric inclusion that undermines the integrity of the list, imo.
