Taree

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 2 years ago

Of course you won’t find anything much to look at staying only 1 night! Taree is a typical country town as far as night life goes, but the natural beauty of the whole Manning Valley can’t be beaten! Check out the stunning Manning River, for fishing, waterskiing or boating. Check out the miles of stunning pristine beaches, Old Bar, Saltwater, Wallaby Point, Manning Point or Harrington. Best surfing you’ll get anywhere! Also visit Wingham, a small town about 10km from Taree, great historic buildings, a museum, some antique shops and cafes and Wingham Brush, an area of remnant rainforest which is home to a colony of fruitbats. Also visit surrounding villages, such as Tinonee, Old Bar, Harrington, Comboyne and Elands. Ellenbourough falls are magnificent and the largest single drop waterfalls in the southern hemisphere. There are all types of adventure sports available, canoeing, abseiling, hiking, etc – you just have to be organised and check out the tourist info centre before you go so you know what you want to do!
