Worth visiting!

Little nippers

I’ve been back for a day, and already I’m covered in mosquito bites.

Swat on, sister

I have always been one of those people who attracts mosquitos. I was born and reared in Louisiana, so it was a problem from my earliest days. It was probably most problemmatic when I contracted malaria in India in 1980! (But that was mainly a result of my forgetting to continue taking quinine tablets for several weeks after I returned to the States.) I’m commenting on your entry, because I grew up ignorantly thinking that the South had some kind of monopoly on mosquitos (Confedero-centric), until I was on tour in Minnesota in the 80’s. I acquired a new level of respect for the critters there and I bought myself a t-shirt sporting a giant mosquito with the caption “Minnesota State Bird.” My most recent mosquito encounter took place just last month in the Yucatán Peninsula, where my liberal application of Cutters was for nought. I acquired 5 new bites per ankle per outing. (Can you believe I kept a tally?)
