Worth visiting!

Untitled

Stayed at the Dolphin on my honeymoon 13 years ago. It was wonderful! Beauty and the Beast hadn’t been out for too long, so the soundtrack was the background music all through the floor where we stayed. The people were wonderful, the restaurant was wonderful – Disney is just simply wonderful…

sounds lovely...

my husband and I would eventually like to take our honeymoon at Disney World. We put a honeymoon off for the time being until we can live together permanently. We were married in Scotland in a registery office and had no time for a big wedding or for a proper honeymoon then.

We hope to have a garden reception for our families eventually and then we’d love to take a honeymoon. We have discussed Disney World in Florida! It is a magical place. I have been, but my husband has not.

Anyhow, I bet those Disney resorts are lovely although I’ve never stayed at one. I bet it’s quite expensive to stay right at Disney resort?

Still, it would be so magical that the cost would be worth it!

Actually, they have resorts that aren’t so bad. About ten years ago or so, they finally started building their “value” resorts – the All-Star theme resorts (sports, music, & movies, I think). They’re $79/night, which is still more than a regular motel room normall is, but given that it’s Orlando, off-property hotels and motels are more expensive than they ought to be anyway. I’m not sure exactly what off-property rates run now, but I do know that Disney never does ANYthing halfway, so even their value resorts are extremely nice and well worth the $79/night – heck, just staying on the property is worth that! You lose the hassle of driving and parking every day, plus the parks stay open an hour or so later for resort guests (you can get in with your resort ID). It’s easy to go back to your room around three to take a nap and then go back at five or six for dinner and be revived for the rest of the evening and night there. I definitely recommend staying at one of the resorts, and I actually don’t recommend staying in one of the more expensive ones unless you’ve been there so many times that you’re not going to be at the park very much and are going to spend a lot of your time enjoying the hotel instead.
Hope that helps… :-)

oh definitely...

that does help. You do bring up an excellent point! There is no need to stay in a extra expensive one as we’d be utilizing almost all our time at the parks!

Well, when I went there before I stayed a condo share of my parents called Isle of Bali and that very VERY nice and in Kissimmee Florida. I went to Disney World a couple days and Universal Studios one day and I also got to take in a lot around the city such as the Orlando Science Center, SACC Stand-Up Comedy, Al Capone’s Dinner Show, the flea markets, and such. I also got to take in the lovely heated pools and hot tubs at the resorts. To me, Florida is like a luxury vacation! I mean compared to the U.K. everything is so much more about luxury! That’s why I really want to take Mark there… becuase he’ll appreciate the high quality of things.

At the end of the day, now that you’ve mentioned about not spending a lot of time at the resort anyohw I think I’ll just go with whatever is cheaper! Like you said, people go more for the experience to going out and seeing the parks and such… not to sit in the hotel room LOL.

Oh, when we stayed at Isle of Bali my friend and I had a good few swims around in the Liki Tiki Lagoon Water Amenity… I LOVED IT!!! I included a picture of it.

Last time we went to Orlando, we rented a house.

We are so glad to have rented a house for 9 nights, instead of staying at a hotel in March, 2004. We had 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, washer and dryer, full kitchen and a fully-screened pool; all for about $110 US per night. Do an online search, “Orlando houses to rent” or something like that. There are lots of condo time-sharing houses down there and they are beautiful!

This link is just an example of the many villa vacation homes to rent in Orlando:

I guess it depends on how many people you have, and how long you want to spend getting to and from the park each day, and whether or not you want the freedom to be able to go back to the hotel during the day for a nap. When we went back for three days for my birthday ten years ago, we only lived an hour from Disney, but we still stayed on-property. We were able to take the Disney transportation to and from the hotel, had no problem getting to the park as soon as it opened, going back around three for a nap and then going back around 5 or 6 for dinner and staying until the parks closed, and then going to Pleasure Island after that, and then it was easy to just get on the bus/shuttle/whatever and not worry about being too tired to drive back home or to a hotel in town. The only time I have ever gone to Disney for more than a day and not stayed on-property was when I had company from out of town who simply couldn’t afford it, and then I let them drive us back to my house in the middle of the night, and back to Disney again the next morning!

wow!

the screened in pool looks excellent!

I can’t wait to get down to Florida but it will be a while yet. He and I have lots of things on our list of to dos!

Argh, with wanting to backpack Europe, start a family, drive across the US, obtain a dream home… blah, it’s just hard to think about having enough time to do all these things. It’s just frustrating to be apart for the next year!

We want to get started on these things NOW but cannot unfortunately.

Thanks for the comments Wayne.

Cheers,
Sissy
