Middleham Falls by kiwisparkle
At our stop in Dominica, we decided to hike up to Middleham Falls. It was a pretty challenging hike, but not impossible. We climbed up and up and up… over paths made of twisted root lattices, crossing over streams, hanging onto vines and rocks. It was very humid, and finally we arrived at the falls, hot, drenched in sweat… we peeled off our hiking gear, and scrambled down the mossy rocks to the icy pool at the bottom. Swimming under the thunderous pounding waterfall, everything is misty and rainbows are shimmering all around, I’ve never felt more alive or more refreshed.
Eventually we had to leave, but on our way back we stopped at a local mountaintop inn, where locals served delicious juice and we played with some friendly dogs, and saw a hummingbird…
Dominica is untamed, fresh, and full of life. A different island for the traveller who wants more than just beaches!
