First the drive. From S.F drive uphill to Mill Valley and then you find Muir Woods stop there-WORTH of VISITING-keep driving in a twisting uphilly road. Even better if driving a Porsche.
Then, a cool State Park appears to your left or to your right the way to Mt. Tamalpais and shortly the view from the top of the hill. Miles and miles of vast Pacific Ocean, look down, and there it is, Stinson Beach and lagoon. Farther down the road is “hippyland”,Bolinas, a surfer paradise. Bring your own tie dye T-shirt and bongo.
It is a fantastic experience in summertime go to Stinson Beach, a strech of coast covered with fine sand and great waves to get a tropical suntan and enjoy the mixture of sand and surf with the step town hills covered with firs, pines, grass, fog, curious deers, bunch of hummingbirds and any other exotic local character. Just beware of the cyclists while driving. And, if you surf there a good surf shop, Live Water. The town is a great place to spend the day having margaritas or Marin Pale Ales at the Sand Dollar and at the end of the day drive few miles back to Muir Beach and have a great dinner at the Pelican Inn, an english style Inn.
