Seattle's Arrivals and Departures

Worth visiting!

News: Havana  — 2 years ago

Havana is a soon-to-be opened bar that I’m excited to check out. It’s on Pike between 10th and 11th and is scheduled to open in mid-June.

near Neumos or Frites?

What side of the street is it on?

I don't know!

I am having a hard time figuring out where it is.

It is on Pike, between 10th and 11th, and the side entrance is “tucked into the parking lot that faces Vita” according to that Stranger article. So that makes me think it is on the north side of the street…I think the parking lot she is talking about must be the one across the street that used to belong to REI, when Vita was Cafe Paradiso (I know that was 200 years ago but that parking lot will always be the REI lot, where you could sneakily park for FREE if you were a bored teenager who drove 70 miles to hang out in coffee shops, to me). I think it is just a pay lot now. But I can’t for the life of me picture the buildings that are on either side. Mystery! You guys work nearby; you should sniff it out.

It's in the Aveda International building.

I checked out that weird parking lot and noticed a little unmarked door beyond which were materials and construction implements of unnameable nature.

I went around to the front and found the real entrance on 10th, in that block that I never walk, and the door is sort of in an alcove with the entrance to Aveda. Seemed like more of an office or condo entrance than a bar entrance. Could this be it? I don’t know…

I bet that’s it. Look at the top of the bar thingy in your picture…it looks the same as here.

You mean the Gary Manuel Aveda beauty school, right? Hmm. Thanks for investigating! I actually like that little stretch of tenth a lot. it’s all bricky and warehousy.

Entrance is in parking lot

The entrance is actually in the parking lot. There is now a noticable awning back there. The parking lot makes a great smoking ‘patio’ for you smokers. The door in the alcove across from Aveda is actually a secondary egress door.

the door in that plaza on the 10th ave side (where once there were statues) doesn’t have an external handle. You can exit the bar from that side, but you need to enter through canopy-covered doorway. you get there by way of the parking lot across from cafe vita on pike street.

it’s pretty neat inside. i was there friday and it was relatively uncrowded.

edit:which is another way of saying the same thing as the comment above mine : /
