Every summer of my childhood my family drove from Montgomery County, MD to Summerset County, PA and stopped in Hanover.

There was a little general store that sold food and crafts and such. I remember they had a glass section on one wall where you could watch the bees and we would get back on the road with straws of flavored honey.

There was a gas station down the street that sold fried potatos in fried chicken boxes. We found it by accident but after that it became tradition to stop there too.

Its been a couple years so I’m not sure either of these places are still around but if you’re on the road, take a look.
