Das Hundertwasser-Haus

(in Austria > Wien)

Worth visiting!

It was a good thing that I was here as a child  — 2 years ago

because I still had the imagination to get it. Although I found the sloping floors to be very unnerving.

I’d like to see what I think of it as an adult – whether I love it as much, or just feel dizzy.

Now I'd like to see it too!

Is this someone’s home or a place that is open to the public for viewing?

It’s a public building, and the sloping floors are deliberate in case you were wondering :P

Thanks for the follow-up..

Are there any other places near here that you recommend?

I was so young when I was there, I really can’t remember, I was only 9 years old, it was back in 1989.

Thanks again for the followup, you’re my daughter’s age! She doesn’t remember much either when we took her to Hawaii in 1987, she said it was unfair to take her when she was so young & thinks we should take her again-KIDS!- sooo demanding :)

i remember enough that it changed my life, opening me up to new experiences, knowing there was more to life than 3rd grade, knowind that when people judged me or looked down on me there was somewhere else out there that was different. it gave me the travel bug for life – a very expensive habit indeed, but a worthwhile use of money.

Travel is great..

and good for your soul. It’s so enriching and the life experience is empowering! I’m glad that you were perceptive enough to realize this at such a young age. It sounds like you are a sensitve & caring person. I’m sorry about kids that may have looked down on you & judged you. Kids can be cruel. Living well & surrounding yourself with people you care about & who care about you are what matters.
Take care :)
