Worth visiting!

Downtown Austin - Not Scary

I grew up in Houston. My Dad worked downtown there. I thought downtown was huge and scary and intimidating. I thought all downtowns were the same. It might have been scary because I was just a kid, though. It’s probably a perfectly good downtown.

Downtown Austin is different. It doesn’t seem as crowded. I haven’t been that scared of the one way streets in Austin like I am in Houston. The buildings aren’t as tall, so they don’t block the sun as much. I love downtown Austin. :)

I’m considering downtown Austin to be bordered by Lamar to the west, MLK to the north, I-35 to the east and the Colorado River to the south.

Cool!

I’ve thought the same thing about downtown areas (regardless of city size), and now don’t mind them as much.

On a side note, I love the fact that you actually know street names! Most people describe areas to me like, “You know, the area by the old such-and-such store and over and around a few turns from there.” That’s half the reason I’m cheering this! :)

Thanks, Deni!

I’m a bit of a map junky. I can sit and look at Google maps all day long. :)
