Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Not as eclectic as it used to be

The Drag is a stretch along Guadalupe Street that borders on The University of Texas. I used to eat lunch there a lot when I worked and went to school at U.T. It used to have a lot of local establishments, but it’s been taken over by some national chains. I remember when The Gap moved in. There used to be a local record store on one corner that I shopped at, but now it’s a Baja Fresh. Ho hum.

the last straw for me

was when they closed the Metro coffee shop at Guadalupe & 22nd. And so soon after the record shop immortalized by the Spoon lyric:

“And you know you’re the one and that hasn’t changed / Since you were 19 and still in school waiting on a light on the corner by Sound Exchange” (yes, he sings that second line REALLY fast)

oh, the Drag, we hardly knew ye…

South Exchange!

That’s the one I was thinking of. It was replaced by Baja Fresh, but Baja Fresh isn’t there now. The space is empty. They should put Sound Exchange back!

The Drag is ever changing. I saw two Pita restaurants right across the street from each other. I’d never in my life seen a Pita restaurant and now there are two just across the street from each other.

not even a baja fresh?

Man, the Drag is too awesome to have vacant space. It’d be nice to have Sound Exchange back.

I’m kind of intrigued by the two pita restaurants though! I was hoping to swing by Austin in December…hmmm. :)
