i’ve been here for 5 yrs and had a few chances to go up but never have….my husband has been here for over 15 and he’s never been up it…..in my opinion…it’s too touristy….too many people…plus, i have a friend who runs the gift shop by the monorail (it’s part of the amusement park company there; not the frontier gallery place) and i hear stuff from him all the time about people who tell him about it and most say it’s cool view…but not worth the $$$; he went up himself yrs ago, and wasn’t impressed that much…so yeah, i think most seattleites haven’t been up it unless they go take family up it when they visit….we see it everyday and that’s enough….kinda like if you live by six flags, you never go unless family is in town and u wanna take them…or if you work at an ice cream parlor…but never eat ice cream…same basic concept….
