DeathRace2000 en route to San Felipe

The road to San Felipe crosses the dry mouth of the Colorado River – a vast, dead-flat playa of cracked earth, tumbleweeds, and dozens of burned-out wrecked cars. Towering above the road to the south and west are the peaks of the Sierra Madre – a weird juxtaposition with the lunar landscape at sea level.

San Felipe itself is a typical Baja fishing town turned tourist trap, with a wealth of bars, a dirty malecon, some great fish tacos, and not much else.

Good for the backpack and Corona set.
