Worth visiting!

Love those WWII vets!

I found the tour fascinating and claustrophobic – how did anyone survive living, working, being at war, in one of these ships?

It is always a joy to meet and thank the WWII vets who volunteer to man this ship.

All Submariners are Volunteers…

All Submariners are volunteers… Though I was not a WWII Submariner However, I did serve during the Cold War on US submarines in the 1970’s. When I was in boot camp they showed us two films, one was about volunteering for Under Water Demolition Teams (UDT), Navy Seals (both are Navy Commando organizations). The other film they showed us was for Submarine Duty. Since the Navy Seal Team looked way too intimidating to me (extreme training requirements) I decided to volunteer for “The Silent Service”. The film said that only the best would make it in submarines and that is what I wanted to be so I volunteered. I am very proud of my service in the Submarine Service of the United States Navy! I currently am a member of United States Submarine Veterans Inc. (USSVI) I am the Chaplain of the Topeka-Jefferson City Base.
