Why I want to go to this place

I’ve always had a fasicination with Everest. I don’t think I have what it takes to summit Everest, but I would love to go at least to Base Camp.

“Into Thin Air” hooked me. No way would I presume to have half of what it takes to summit Chomolungma, but to be as close as I could get to it would be quite an experience.

Try going there with Google Earth – way cool.

Good book

I loved Into Thin Air as well. I also read Beck Wethers book, since I think his is the most intriguing story.

Have you seen the IMAX movie narrated by Liam Neeson? I have it on DVD but seeing it on IMAX wa awesome!

Thanks for the tip on Google Earth. It was very cool! Somebody needs to go in and label all the major attractions, like the Khumbu Icefall and Laotse Face (if they haven’t already!)

I need to read that...

Bought Anatoly Boukreev’s book and couldn’t even make it halfway through. I knew there was bad blood between him and Krakauer but geez – seemed like defending himself was the primary motivation of his book.

I saw the IMAX movie – on my TV at home : (

Haven’t tried to label anything in Google Earth, so I guess it won’t be me doing Everest.

Thanks for the Beck Weathers recommendation…I’d forgotten about him. Others must have too – I found a signed copy of his book really cheap on Amazon. Poor guy. Lucky me.
