Worth visiting!
Nice if you know where to go
I grew up here and there are a few nice places to check out besides the strip malls and plazas that make up Rt. 2. Conimicut Point is a nice park to visit on the water over looking Greenwhich Bay and has the historic Conimicut Light House. Oakland beach is significantly smaller and more rundown but has a nice view looking out to the Newport and Jamestown bridges with plenty of local seafood resturants inbetween. Warwick Neck is home to the Aldrich Mansion built in 1896 and was where Nelson A. Rockefeller’s son married Abby Aldrich. Was used in exterior and party scenes of the Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins film Meet Joe Black. Warwick was once home to Rocky Point Amusement Park which was first built in the 1850’s and continuously renovated and built on to until it finally closed its gates in 1994. Empty and crumbling buildings with left over parts and carriges from rides are mostly all that remain. For the breaking-and-entering-photography inclined it definitely be a place to check out if you aren’t worried about potentially outrunning security if there is any. Warwick has a lot of interesting history.
