And no, not the one at George. We are nestled in the heart of the Cascade Mts. We have Mt Rainier, Mt St Helen’s(the volcano) and Mt Adams directly to the north and this is the view to the south, across the great Columbia River. You know, the one Lewis and Clark made famous 200 years ago with the great journey to discover the Pacific.

We are going to fly into Portland then drive right to the Columbia River Gorge, stay for two nights. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

There is a wonderful place in Stevenson, WA on SR 14. It’s Skamania Lodge, www.skamania.com. It has everything you could think of. Golf course, pools, room service. If you want something more rustic, there is a restored motor motel here in Carson. It’s a place called Sand Hill Cottages. No tv, no phone, really nice cottages. They each have a little kitchenette, if you want to cook. Their web site is www.sandhillcottages.com and hope you enjoy you vacation. I also hope this got to you in time.
