Le Chambon-sur-Lignon

The town that set a profound example and challenge  — 2 years ago

See more about Le Chambon-sur-Lignon on my 43things list under “Huguenot settlements.” This is a town with Huguenot roots that simply and bravely lived out their faith by doing what had to be done to save Jewish refugees from Nazi oppression.

Huguenot Hotspots

I am of a nature to make pilgrimmages (such as one I documented in 43places, beginning at Gertrude Stein’s Residence, 1904 – 1937). This and your entry on Franschhoek are inspiring me to undertake an altogether different one. Thanks.

you're welcome

I shall check out your pilgrimmage starting with Gertrude’s residence. I guess I am a collector at heart and want to “collect” understanding of things in more depth.

I have friends who “collect” trips to cities that have roller coasters in them in an attempt to see new places and ride all the roller coasters in the US….Not quite the level of Gertrude Stein and the Huguenots…but to each his/her own!
