The usual caveats aside (I’m thinking totalitarian state), Beijing is a beautiful world city, and now an ideal stop over en route from Sydney to Europe.

I think I said ‘Beautiful city’, which is a bit better. I was born in Milton Keynes, in the UK, and would be delighted if anyone suggested it was a beautiful anything.

Okay, beautiful, yes, and I would love to hear more about Milton Keynes. But Beijing is as much of a stop over as Mumbai or Singapore, or, dare I say, Sydney.
