Worth visiting!

Long fun weekend in Seattle - But enough to move?  — 2 years ago

First time in Seattle for four days last week, gee where do I start? This city is the only one I’ve been to that feels both like a big city like Montreal and a smaller harbour city like Halifax Nova Scotia. The downtown is absolutely beautiful with lots of big buildings, combined with green trees and beautiful view of the bay. I got to experience nasty early spring Seattle weather (and I do mean nasty, just terrible) but also nice and sunny weather for two of the four days we were there. The people seem pretty nice too.

If you go, do see the Pike Place Market area, lots of interesting shops and foods (I especially liked the memorabilia stores), the top of the Space Needle, which is visible from basically anywhere downtown, take a ride on the argosy cruise, best view of the city in my opinion, Woodland Park Zoo for a relaxing stroll seeing some animals in their natural habitat, the Experience Music Project if you’re a music nut like me, you can actually go into a sound proof room and play drums, guitar, whatever and record yourself, and if you’re into shopping, be sure to stroll downtown, lots and lots of store for shopping.

Of course, your experience will depend on the weather, bring an umbrella at all times, the weather can change quickly.

To save you time and money, avoid the Pacific Science Center, overall boring with really rude service and a really stupid parking system.

For food, lots of seafood and Thai restaurants, I recommend the Wild Ginger for food, although it is a bit loud in there.

Overall, great experience, but do I like it enough to move out there permanently? We shall see…
