Manhattan

Not worth it!

Untitled  — 2 years ago

I’ve spent over what is closing in on seven years here: five years of college and a few years after college.

This is an absolutely terrible place to be for even short periods of time and has no redeeming features or value. It is possible to survive here, but it doesn’t really qualify as living.

As other have mentioned the only things to do here are drink and go to college football games. Since I don’t drink and don’t like football this skews my perceptions a bit.

Previous comments that there is no art or culture are dead-on. If you simply must be in a college town in Kansas go to Lawrence.

Manhattan

The Lil' Applie is a GREAT place

Being happy and being content in Manhattan is about ‘blooming where you are planted’. This is a lovely town with warm people and fun things to do every day. Go to the Arts in the Park during the summer, peruse the Dusty Bookshelf, get a cup of joe at Radina’s, hike the Konza Praire, ride your bike around Tuttle Lake, there are too many options to mention.

Life is not about about waiting for things to happen to you. Life is about creating yourself – G.B. Shaw

San Francisco

I found that the easier solution was to move to San Francisco. Even without a job here I’m vastly happier living here than I ever was living in Manhattan.
