I Will Bear Witness  — 2 years ago

After reading the diaries kept by Vicktor Klemper (I Will Beat Witness, Vol. 1 and 2) during World War II, I would like to see this town. I’ve heard it’s quite beauitful, despite having been practically annhilated during the bombings. Also, I’ve always had such positive experiences in Germany (visited Berlin, Munich, and Nuremburg) that I am anxious to return and see more of this wonderful country. I also have family that came over from Germany after WW2, as well as family still residing there, so I feel linked to it on some level.

It is beautiful

When I was there, there was a street musician playing the accordian near this passageway guarded by 2 large nordic looking soldiers (statues). They were stooped w/long beards. This is near the Sempre Opra and the Zwinger, both of which are also very nice. The architecture of this area was gothic and dark. It really had and easter European feel, as opposed to much of the rest of Germany which we visited, including Berlin. It is beautiful.

Thank you for sharing your experience with me! It sounds like a wonderful place. I hope that I can visit sooner, rather than later!
