Italy, though it may not seem so, is a very large place. Try driving around… Anyway, back to your question, try La Toscana region. There are plenty of towns to see, Siena, Florencia, Lucca, Pisa, Montepulciano. And the food is great! If you have a month, include Cinque Terre in your visit.
