I didn’t notice any difference in air when I stepped over the line in the other direction. ;)
The funniest part about visiting the DMZ was watching the tourists on the other side watching us…
But you don’t need to wait for democracy to tour P’yŏngyang – while you can’t freely roam around, you can see quite a lot if it now.

I’d be very interested to go, but there’s no way I can do it as an American. Didn’t Jong state that no Americans were allowed inside the country? With or without my current lame duck leader, I don’t think this will change any time soon.
I’d figure a way out if there weren’t so many other locations in the world I’d rather see instead.
