Worth visiting!

My home away from home

When my family immigrated to Canada from the Philippines over 15 years ago, we immediately settled in the small city of Surrey. Some bad things have been said about this place, but now that I no longer live here, I have come to appreciate its beauty and now see it in a different light. I have come to realize that it is home in Canada and that no matter what people say about it, Surrey is where my heart is. I cannot wait to go back home in a few days for the Easter long weekend.

Don’t know anything about Surrey but have received a job offer there. Can you give me the low-down on Surrey ? What areas should be avoided when looking for properties ? tks

Hi there,

Well if you’re looking for a place to stay in Surrey, I would recommend the Fleetwood or Guildford area. Personally I would avoid Newton or Whalley, although these neighbourhoods have gotten much better over the years. You can visit this website http://www.surrey.ca/default.htm which should hopefully help you get more familiarized with Surrey. I hope this helps!

I’ve lived in Whalley for 5 years. Surrey City Hall will be moving to the Whalley area soon as well which means loads of other traffic will be re-routed here. It’s a great place to live and if we have some issues with homeless folks and drug dealers, show me a place in the Lower Mainland that doesn’t.
