This huge Statue of Libertyesque monument is a memorial to all those in Ukraine that defended her during the Great Patriotic War (WWII). She’s 236 feet tall and coated in titanium. Beneath her is a museum of sorts to the defenders of the city. The museum has little information about the war, it’s an artistically arranged grouping of artifacts from the war. There are piles of German Helmets, photos of concentration camps survivors and victims from Ukraine as well as pieces of the war that really makes one think. As you exit, there is a wall some 100 feet long with thousands of photos of Ukranians that were affected by the war. As Americans, we need to be reminded of how much our forefathers have done for our freedom and how hard so many others have fought for their own freedom.
