Lake Tahoe spring 2006 by rrhobbs

I have enough frequent flyer miles for a trip out to Tahoe its about finding the time and money for everything else. I want to go out to Royal Gorge to go cross country skiing, (which has been an obsession of mine the past few years).

See, (if you travel at all I am not telling you anything new) you dont just jump on a plane:

I have to park my Jeep at Newark Airport (ka-ching $12 per day) then when I arrive in San Francisco for the 3 hour drive up to Tahoe I have to rent that 4-wheeler (ka-ching $60? per day) Gas (ka-ching $150?)

I lucked out; I found the Sierra Club’s flagship lodge Clair Tappan http://www.sierraclub.org/outings/lodges/ctl/ in the Donner Pass area… $60 bux a night gets you a bed and 3 squares a day. Still I would want to go out some nights (ka-chingav.$30? per day food/drink)

…trail passes (ka-ching! $20 a day per resort)

I’ve never been anywhere where I didnt pick up an extra piece of “gear” along the trip (this might be a guy thing) if for no other reason as a memento of the trip. I am really itching for a good pair of skate skis for which I’ll need bindings and boots for (oops there goes like $500? bux)

I am self employed as a film location scout (shameless plug) http://www.rrhobbs.us/ so every day I am away is potential lost work. but… you gotta live…

When I get time I will see if there is still any snow there maybe I can sneak in before Easter. United www.united.com will blackout the dayes around Easter for my coach reward travel

so many places so little time.
