Tiger, tiger by Mrs. Bryce

I’d love to see these little Sumatran tigers in their natural ecosystems. How exciting to be one with the wild… here’s a little William Blake for you:

Tiger, tiger, burning bright

In the forests of the night,

What immortal hand or eye

Dare frame thy fearful symmetry

Orang utans too

I’m very fond of Blake too, albeit finding his Songs of Innocence and Experience quite a pain in high school…

Sumatra is great. Didn’t see the tigers but saw Orang Utans really close up.

Great place to lose weight too ;-)

Hubby usually wouldn’t see this, so I can tell you that I’ve quite a thing for Indian men too (especially when they have a smile like yours. Grin). But not the macho ones, only the nice and intelligent ones.

Primates are my fav!

I would love to see orangutans in their natural ecosystem, although I’ve heard that the males can be quite violent.

Why did you lose weight while you were there? I would think that the cuisine was exotic and delicious, thus plentiful and fattening?

LOL, I was never attracted to Indian guys until I meet my beau, but now I see a lot of Indian cuties on campus. I don’t like “macho” guys in general, they’re usually too bossy for my tastes.

Have a good evening Beaulotus!!

mee goreng

Indonesian food tastes better in Singapore. My hubby adores Sanur and Rice Table, for example.

Over in Sumatra, unless you like Nasi Padang (cooked food on display), you usually have to order Mee Goreng or Nasi Goreng (friend noodles/rice) if you want your food cooked on the spot. After a while it can get monotonous.

I lost weight and was at my slimmest during that trip, even hubby would think of it very fondly today (15kgs extra later).

I had a mother and her 2 young pretty close-up and it was quite fascinating watching them eat bananas (like me when I eat whipped potato). Are you doing your PhD in Zoology? Since you do seem to adore primates.

In S’pore, our zoos no longer cage most of the animals but put them behind natural or artificial barriers like streams or glass screens. I’ve seen tigers at 10cm away this way. Amazing.

I grew up on Indian movies with dashing heros and beautiful heroines, so I guess I was initiated. I remember having a gigantic crush on a Sikh boy (without the turban) in high school and started wearing Punjabi suits as a result…;-)

lol

Talk about Indian movies, don’t we all Singaporeans grow up watching Bollywood movies? :P ..They are hilarious in their moves and look fun in their dancing..but don’t know why they always like to dance under the coconut trees..lol

Ms Bryce, I suggest you watch this “The guru” movie with Mr. Wonderful, very fun and cute movie! I think the two of you will enjoy it :D

It’s about a young Indian dance teacher with the best moves in Delhi embarks for New York City in pursuit of fame and fortune only to wind up working as in an Indian restaurant, but later found his way to be a sex guru ;)

And good choice Ms Bryce, the Indian men in fact are quite romantic, caring and faithful to their partners ;)

The Guru preview

P.S. And yes, I love the Night Safari Zoo in Singapore!

I want to watch this!

Wow, sex guru somemore…

LOL, it looks hilarious!

I will be sure to rent this one day with my man, I’m sure we’ll both be rolling on the floor laughing! I really do need to brush up on my Bollywood films, I’ve only seen two so far!

Thus far Mr. Wonderful has been romantic, caring, and committed which is so unlike my former boyfriends. It’s refreshing to have a “good” man, I just hope we can make it through all the adversity of being in a biracial relationship.

The Night Safari Zoo sounds phenomenal, I want to go!!!

Oh wow!!!

That’s absolutely amazing, now I’m going to put Singapore on my list of places I want to visit! I can only dream of being near a tiger, the zoos in the US are such a disgrace!

I’m getting my PhD in conservation biology and some of what I study deals with zoology. I would love to be a primatologist but then I would be forced to embrace a life of poverty. LOL, I’m hoping to protect endangered species (esp mountain gorilla) and maybe eventually become a prof.

I just started watching Hindi movies so I have no idea who Sikh boy is, but I’ll be sure to Google it!

A story I have about Sumatran tigers

My parents went to Sumatra in the 70s. They were going through the jungle in a bus and had to stop when a truck had stopped in the middle of the road, blocking anyone from getting through. Apparently he had broken down, and didn’t want to be left alone with the tigers, so wouldn’t let anyone else past him.

I’d love to see the tigers too! I’ve seen Orang Utans in Kalimantan, in a refuge there. They are so human-like! (hence the name I guess – it means forest people).

VIRTUAL CHEER!!!!!

Thanks for this comment Goddess, that story is hilarious! Were you able to get very close to the orangs in Kalimantan? I’ll be back to cheer you as soon as 43things dishes me out a few:)

I didn’t get to touch any or anything like that. I have seen more of them on TV. What is the name of that american woman who studies orang utans? like the jane goodall of orang utans?

Primates galore!

I believe her name is Biruté Mary Galdikas but she’s not American. She’s actually Lithuanian born and was brought up in Canada. Dian Fossey inspired me to pursue a PhD in conservation biology so that maybe one day I can protect the mountain gorilla that she loved so dearly.

I must have mistaken her canadian accent for an american one. Canadians get so annoyed when you do that lol. I remember seing some doco where it was like the Orang Utans were her family, and she had forgotten that she was a human, or that they weren’t. I guess they seem more human than some people I have met.
