Sao Paulo, though not as nice as Rio is still worth a visit. More industrial than Rio it is a good place to start your visit to Brazil if backpacking as its more southerly location means easier access to the pantanel and Iguazu Waterfalls. The nicest part of Sao Paulo is probably the cathedral. The people here are very helpful for the most part; as with the whole of Brazil. I would definately visit again!
