Not worth visiting!

Untitled

I’m not sure why you would spend time in Metairie as a visitor to the NO area. It’s got strip malls, and chain restaurants… a drive down Veterans is a drive down a big multi-lane main street in most any sprawled city in America. Stick to New Orleans if you are touristing, for there is nothing to see here.

Metairie isnt that homogenized

Metairie does, in fact, have some great
family restaurants.
Fausto’s Bistro is family owned and has amazing Italian food. Their frutti di Mare is excellent. It is right near the parish line. Once inside, you will feel like you are in someone’s home.

Crazy Johnny’s is another great place. They have a limited menu but the items are all delicious from the dippin’ bread to the infamous filet with their crazy potatoes. But if you do visit do not forget to try their crab stuffed mushrooms. Service is quick and the food is flawless.

Another great but underrated place is Koz’s in Harahan. They have delicious homestyle po-boys and side dishes like mac and cheese and smothered green beans.

Oscar’s on Metairie Road is great if you want to snag some free red beans and rice on any Monday night. Sometimes they even offer pork chops and sausage on the side. For an appetizer try their creamy spinach and artichoke dip. And their baked potatoes are gigantic, served with your choice of toppings.
