Not much outside of the cemetery by Jennifer

The cemetery is worth a quiet, respectful visit, whenever school is NOT in session.

Other than that, Arlington is just alot of headquarters of national groups, strip malls, etc. For the quaint colonial feel, go to Alexandria. For a quick lunch at a chain restaurant on a metro stop, go the Arlington/Pentagon City/Crystal City route.

My mom lived in Arlington for eight years, so I spent way too much time there. It’s a neighborhood/workinghood type place, with normal life going on and nothing extraordinary about it (outside of the cemetery). Not somewhere I would waste time in when I could be touristing in DC.

It might not be extraordianry to visitors, but anyone who has lived there knows it is. The atmosphere and community relationships are wonderful. The schools are some of the best in the country. The architecture is known as innovative. It has many parks (over 200), even though it is almost the smallest county in the country. Many politicians choose to live there, as they prefer it to DC.

My point exactly.

A nice place to live, but to not really a destination, what with the more world-class travelling and such to be done in DC.

More a place to investigate if you are considering relocating to the DC metro area.
