Camden

Been maniacally searching the web on places in London I’d like to stay.
Thought that maybe Camden would be a good place. It seems pretty laid back and there are several hostels that looked good. I thought that maybe I’d get a single room at a hostel. Is this good? You tell me. I’m trying to keep costs low and I’m not by any stretch of the imagination an “expensive tastes” kinda of girl…

I thought it would be nice to be near Regents Park, etc…

Any opinions?

Unfortunately I don’t know much about the hostels, but Camden is a nice area, and Regent’s is beautiful! I do hope you find what you’re looking for. : )

Thanks for the positive vote

on Camden and Regents Park. Did you stay near these places and then visited them during your stay? What time of year did you go?

When you have a spare moment… Any tips on your visit to London would be greatly appreciated! Advice is always welcome.

Thank you, thank you!

Camden can be nice around particular areas and times, but it gets bustled and packed around the Camden Stables Market (especially on weekends!). But that’s mostly just the main drag area. Loads of colourful, decorative buildings with a great deal of shopping! You’ll find some of the most unique shops you’d ever see. There are cute little docking areas as well where the Regent’s canal runs through. It’s very Bohemian, I guess. I had a friend who lived near the canal, where it wasn’t crowded; it’s lovely and relaxed around there. I’d imagine the hostels wouldn’t be bad in Camden, but I really don’t know.

I’ve never really given travel tips, actually! I’ve lived in both Pimlico and Kings Cross in Central London, as well as East London so I’m quite familiar with places of interest, but I feel like anything I say would be sort of bias in that respect!

Even living where I did, I often took trips to Regent’s as it’s lovely in late spring through summer. And I think those are the best times to be in London, but it’s also flooding with crowds, so I couldn’t really say from a tourist’s perspective. It also depends on the purpose of your trip. There’s always sight-seeing, but there are many festivals held in different areas all through August.

Umm, can’t think of much else at the moment, but feel free to ask questions. I’d like to help if I could. : )

It's looking like Fall will be when I go

Wow! You lived in London? Pretty cool! I’d love to go in the summer, but prices are too steep for me, so it’s looking like Fall or next Spring. Now that I’ll be getting my passport I am so impatient, but alas… reality steps in and what with prices and scheduling with work…

When I go, I’ll mostly just wander around and take it all in. I’m interested in the small things that shape a city. The little-written about places that aren’t always in the guide books.

Any ideas? What are your happiest memories of London (Places to eat, areas, etc.)?
