We had to go through a checkpoint with some arm guards. There was a car on fire and our bus driver got out to argue with them. Since they were not speaking in English I can only speculate on the scene. It seemed like a lot of people outside of the city made their living as fishermen. It seemed less touristy than most other islands I’ve been to, and maybe a bit unsafe if traveled too far off the beaten path. Still I would have liked to have a bit more time to try and get a feel for the place.
