Worth visiting!

Birch Aquarium

I’ve been to the Birch Aquarium a couple of times (most recently was a couple of weeks ago). It is kind of small, but I really enjoyed the different types of sea life that are there. Half way through the “tour” (people can walk through the aquarium at their own pace), there is this huge aquarium that I always enjoy looking at. There is seating in front of it, which people could sit on and just stare at everything in it…it is very relaxing.

During my last visit, we got there an hour before closing…if we got there earlier, I know that I could’ve spent hours just staring at the fish, sharks, jellyfish, etc. There’s also an outdoor “balcony” that overlooks the Pacific Ocean (beautiful view), which is another thing I could’ve spent hours just looking at. The first thing people will most definitely notice when driving to the aquarium is the “whale” fountain in the front, which I think is way cool!

There aren’t any penguins at the Birch Aquarium…I think if people in San Diego wanted to see penguins, they would go to the “Penguin Encounter” at Sea World…and yes I like penguins…I really liked the film March of the Penguins.

The cinematography in March of the Penguins was beautiful! The penguins were very cute when they slid on their bellies! I also liked the content of the film (would’ve loved to see more though) and Morgan Freeman’s narration.

I don’t remember if there are any penguins outdoor at Sea World. The “Penguin Encounter” is indoor and people look at the penguins from behind a glass while moving on those “escalator” type moving floors.

That’s so cool that you got to dance with the penguins! When the penguins chased you, were they sliding on their bellies?
