Worth visiting!
To be honest . . .
I didn’t really feel comfortable here. But there was nothing that made me feel it wasn’t worth visiting, and I’m sure I’d go back if I had the opportunity.

Who is the head of North Ireland? Is there a ruling council, or several leaders? Who represents Ulster in the U.K. Parliament? How much British military presence is there?
Why didn’t you feel comfortable? In what part of Ulster did you visit?

I can’t answer any of your first paragraph questions off the top of my head, so I’ll just respond to the second paragraph . . . I felt uncomfortable because of the military presence. There were soldiers (I have no idea whose) stationed along the streets carrying machine guns. And while I do live in a country which has an armed police force (something I’m not in favour of in theory, although I do understand that at this point, it’s necessary), I just got a bit freaked out at the overt display of arms in NI.
Oh, and we took a ferry into Belfast (from Stranraer, Scotland), and then drove pretty much straight through to Ireland (Kildare).
