Istria in Croatia

Porec is a beautiful old town on the Istrian Peninsula in Croatia in the Adriatic immediately opposite Venice. In the summer there are cafe bars spilling into the streets which are tiled and free from cars. The atmosphere is very Italian and there are many Italian influences to be found. The food is very good and not too pricey. Many British holidaymakers travelled to Porec when it was part of the former Yugoslavia. Now it is going to become a hit with the Brits once again. The coastline is rocky not sandy but it has many inlets and harbours to explore. Travel is cheap and easy from Stansted to Trieste in Italy and then by road through Slovenia to Croatia – a journey of about 2 hours.
