Don't believe the anti-hype. by Tiorted

I live in Detroit and I love my city. Don’t listen to the anti-hype. Detroit has tons to offer. Great ethnic restaurants and small businesses, music festivals, an extensive local music scene, and people big and small who are determined to turn the city around. Those who berate it are just missing out. Don’t let predjudice hold you back. Don’t let fear hold you back. They are what has been holding the city and state back for decades. Out of the grit, crime and cold of Detroit has emerged some of the worlds most influential music (techno, punk, motown, hip hop, etc…), not to mention technological marvels (i.e. the assembly line).

Detroit has been kickin’ for 300+ years, don’t count us out just yet.

Detroit

if you hate detroit, then leave & shut the $%&* up about it. i’ve lived in decatur, illinois, pensacola, florida, chicago, illinois, dallas, texas and now detroit, michigan where i’m raising my child. chicago is the greatest city but detroit has a great deal to offer if politics & the negative media would stay the $%&* out of it. i live in downtown detroit & i absolutely love it. yes, there are bums, dirt, crime & racism, but name me a major u.s. city that doesn’t have it. so for all those that hate detroit, get out because YOUARETHEPROBLEM. thank you.

After 12 years in California, I’m so happy to be back in Detroit. People need to stop complaining and explore this amazing city, it’s full of great people, places and things to do.
