Worth visiting!
There are better NJ beaches than this
but it was pretty cool. I rode my mountain bike all the way here from Matawan with a buddy once. On a clear day or at night, you could see the New York skyline from here.

Sandy Hook (not just the beach)
was one of my very fave places in the whole of NJ.
I loved driving all around that little island and then going to the beach early in the morning and rescuing all the horseshoe crabs stranded by the high tide.
I found a copy of Ernest Hemingway’s ‘The Old Man and the Sea’ on Sandy Hook beach… I still have it to this day!
Not a great swimming beach, but the view was amazing.
Whenever I think back to it, I can still see the Twin Towers in my mind’s eye. :(
