The press covers every accident in gruesome detail, and makes it sound worse than anywhere sometimes…

and unfortunately there have been some terrible tragedies, but there are intersections in the city of Vancouver that have a tremendous amount of accidents—much higher than any given stretch of the highway…. and, as in any highway (this stretch covers over 90 km of road) there are unfortunately problems.

Personally, I’ve driven some of the great ocean roads including the Pacific Highway north of San Francisco, California, Roads around the Cape in South Africa and the Great Ocean Road south of Melbourne Australia and I don’t think that this road is inherently more dangerous… in fact I think it is much safer overall…

I’m certainly more comfortable here than many of the places I drive.
