—okay, so this isn’t really a place, but I’d still like to see bits of it. Central Asia may be scary now, but once it was the cultural and commercial centre of the world.

Not scary at all
There’s nothing scary about Central Asia – I’ve been there four times already and will probably return many more times.
If you don’t go because you think it’s scary you’ll be missing out on many great experiences and miss meeting many of the most hospitable people I’ve ever encountered.
