The mecca for Tex Mex. by Emily

Okay, aside from the fact that sometimes it can take you twenty minutes to find a parking space and up to forty-five minutes to get a table during peak hours, you should really visit. It’s an Elvis-themed Tex Mex place with a really fun atmosphere.

The waitstaff is always friendly. The food can’t be beat. Make sure to try Queso Compuesto as an appetizer. It’s queso topped with pico de gallo, beef, and guacamole.

Chuy's ... Tex-Mecca

If ever I find myself thinking of moving back to Texas, Chuy’s just might make the top ten list of reasons why. A not-insignificant percentage of my Houston meals have been consumed there.

You really can get fat and happy just from eating the chips and salsa. Ignore the one that looks like ketchup (it tastes like it, too), and pour as much of the pico-de-gallo-esque and creamy jalapeño ones as you can down your gullet. Then get the tasty entree you ordered brought to your table in a to-go box. I’m just kidding — this is America! Of course, you’ll eat the entree, too, and then you will be fat, happy, and mildly distended. So skip your next meal or two — you’ll be back to Chuy’s.

JalapeƱo Ranch! Oh, yes! My friend who worked at Chuy’s used to bring me cups and cups of it. We called it crack sauce because it’s so addictive.

My FAVORITE restaurant in Houston

Ok, admittedly I haven’t been to all that many restaurants in Houston. But, I’ve been to Houston many times and I usually hit Chuy’s more than once while I’m there. I went to the one in Austin first, but found out Houston had one (two I think?) and can’t stay away from it when I visit. It’s always the first restaurant I hit when I get to town. I LOVE the Chuy’s special (chicken burrito). I can’t say enough about this place!
