Worth visiting!

More down to earth than Tofino

Ucluelet (Ukee for short) is worth a visit – the Wild Pacific trail is spectacular. The ‘new’ linear section is uncrowded even in the summer – I used to come here when I worked in Tofino to ‘get away”. The boat Lady Rose up to Port Alberni is well worth the money (25-30). Ukee has a much more “real” feel than Tofino at the other end of the penisula.

Spent 3 days there in late spring and loved it, also took the Lady Rose back to Port Alberny. Very laid back atmosphere; reserve a table at the Matterson House if you’re looking for a great place to eat, the boat ride through the Broken Islands is also nice, even without a whale (although of course you get the whale sighting guarantee ;-) ).
Just wondering how it will be in a few years with all the building going on right now.
