My ex ,my two sons and I lived there for four years…the military base was Baden-Sollengen….but we lived for a while in a little town-just outside the base gates- called Hugelsheim.
After being terrible homesick….first 6 months, I learned to appreciate the absolute beauty of the country. I had been told there was a lot of air pollution there, but living on the “edge” of the Black Forest, one would never know it !
One of the most incredible differences was that every Saturday morning, locals would go out and sweep, then hose down the sidewalk in front of thier property <——how cooperative…and makes the place look sooooo clean ! KUDOS to them for that !
Would LOVE to go back for a visit someday
