We had a 6-hour layover in Narita, outside Tokyo, between flights. The airport agents made it so easy for us to take a quick trip into town—the Help Desk has highlighted maps and explicit instructions for taking the train into town. It’s very easy to follow the main road into town to visit the grand old temple, wander in and out of grocery stores (always fascinating) and have an authentic lunch. If you have the time, why not? Worth the detour.
